Discover the Artist Within You Classes!
For over twenty years, the Art Therapy Studio has offered unique, innovative community-
based art therapy programs. Our community-based studios are places where clients
participate in creative arts classes structured to provide an expressive outlet. Broadly
encompassed under the title “Discover the Artist Within You,"our creative therapeutic arts
program provides watercolor, acrylic, drawing, collage, and clay classes. We invite people
with special physical, emotional, cognitive or behavioral needs, and individuals seeking a
wellness approach to healing to join us.
Summer Classes begin the week of June 23rd and are held on a quarterly basis. Participants
can join anytime of the year with prior registration.
Classes are held at the Fairhill Center near Shaker Square (our administrative offices are also
located here), on the campus of Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, at River’s Edge on the west
side near Kamm’s Corner and at MetroHealth Medical Center. We currently serve people with
a variety of diagnosed issues such as mental illness, multiple sclerosis, stroke, arthritis, and
cancer, as well as people in the community who may be retired and always wanted to learn
how to paint. Through class conversations, we know that even if someone does not have a
diagnosed issue, they may be receiving support from their art class during a divorce or while
their spouse struggles with a life threatening illness or as they adjust to other life changes.
The Art Therapist leading each class is trained in group dynamics and can offer support no
matter what comes up in the context of class. The creative process in and of itself provides
an outlet for individuals to make self-discoveries.
